The trial of three defendants over the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal in the village of Varagë in Zubin Potok will resume on 11 November 2026, at 13:30, at the Basic Court in Prishtina. The court has confirmed that a new presiding judge has been appointed. This has created the conditions for the continuation of the trial after the last session was adjourned.
The attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal remains at the centre of this trial in Prishtina, where all the evidence gathered by the Special Prosecution of Kosovo is expected to be examined. The previous session was held on 19 October, but at that time the date for continuation had not been set. The then presiding judge, Vesel Ismaili, had announced that he would end his professional career due to retirement.
His retirement made it necessary to appoint a new presiding judge to hear the case. Now, with the appointment of the new presiding judge, the trial is expected to continue on 11 November, at 13:30, at the Basic Court in Prishtina. In this case, the defendants are brothers Dragisha and Jovan Viqentijeviq, as well as Igor Dimoviq.
They face charges brought by the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo. All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. The case relates to the explosion in the village of Varagë in Zubin Potok, which severely damaged a section of the Ibër-Lepenc canal.
This canal is infrastructure of particular importance for the supply of drinking water and for the functioning of the energy sector in Kosovo. According to the indictment of the Special Prosecution, the Viqentijeviq brothers are suspected of having, together with other persons still unidentified, placed a considerable quantity of explosives inside the canal.
The aim was to damage vital infrastructure and endanger the country’s security. The explosion caused considerable material damage, while the water supply and electricity production were put at risk. The Basic Court in Prishtina has confirmed the appointment of the new presiding judge, paving the way for the continuation of the examination of the case. The next session will be held on 11 November 2026, from 13:30, at this court.
