Identifying officers, banning the checking of phones without a court order, and the presence of a parent or psychologist during procedures involving minors are among the obligations set out in a letter addressed to police structures. The State Police has instructed police stations in Tirana and structures in Kruja to take immediate measures to guarantee the rights of minors, in the context of the recent student protests.
The letter from the Tirana Local Police Directorate calls for full implementation of the Criminal Justice Code for Minors and the legislation in force. One of the main points is the clear identification of police officers on duty, through their identification number, as well as the identification of vehicles used in operations.
