PD deputy Tomor Alizoti says Prime Minister Edi Rama has been politically delegitimized, while warning that civic anger and protests against the government could return with greater intensity. He argued that the protests could become even stronger, linking the dissatisfaction to the way the country is governed, the economic situation, and problems in healthcare and education.
”There will be even stronger protests. It won’t stop anymore. For more than two years students have protested in Albania, and here they are. Who is delegitimized when no one listens to you anymore, when no one wants to talk to you anymore, and here we are. He has exercised violence, and violence breeds violence, and people will be more present. This is unstoppable. For him it would be better to give space.
The clash and the labeling of students and protesters who are not millionaires like the prime minister and who live in hardship will provoke strong reactions. If Rama had governed well, had built a good economy, good healthcare or good education, there would be no people in the streets. But Mr. Rama only understands crime and schemes. He has robbed this country so much, with his people, with his allies, with his ministers”, he said.
