Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi has again reacted to acts of violence this Sunday, condemning attacks on institutions, arson, and the destruction of public and private property. In his statement, Peleshi stresses that violence has nothing to do with the right of students and young people to protest and to demand more rights and opportunities. He underlines that young people are the future of the country and have the right to seek a future equal to that of their peers in the European Union.

VIOLENCE HAS NO PLACE IN DEMOCRACY!
The European Commission clearly condemns the arson, attacks on institutions, and destruction of public and private property during protests in Albania.
Attacks on institutions, burning and destruction of property have nothing to do with students, or with their right to protest.
Young people are Albania’s today and tomorrow. They have the right to demand loudly more rights and more opportunities. They have the right to dream of a future equal to that of their EU peers.
But violence is not the way.
Let us sit down with one another. Without prejudice, without resentment. Every hour that passes makes dialogue harder.
Perhaps we will not agree, but we must speak. We must listen.
Let us extend our hand to one another TODAY!
We are united by a purpose.
For Albania.
