At a time when the student protest is in serious turmoil, analyst Mentor Kikia says the moment is difficult for dialogue. In his view, Parliament has lost its legitimacy, as deputies have become nothing more than card-raisers. ”Finding a solution under these conditions is difficult, because there is no one to lead the effort for dialogue. We are facing a wall; there are no winners here, so far there are only losers”,-he said on ”Vizion Plus”.
For three decades we have seen moments of crisis, but dialogue has always given us a solution. Who should be the facilitator in these moments?
Kikia: What is happening did not fall from the sky. I think it is a consequence. Although the young people who lead this aggressive confrontation are not responsible for the democratic situation, in general they are the product of a complacent society, with a history of corruption scandals, families who at dinner do the month’s accounts and hear stories of scandals on their phones.
All of this is the consequence of continuous misgovernance, the consequence of the destruction of the institutions of justice, the degradation of parliament, where deputies only vote without knowing what they are voting for, and their only job is distributing the prime minister’s statuses. Citizens, seeing deputies without academic training, create a situation of nervousness that builds a pressure cooker.
You referred to the president, but with all due respect, Mr Begaj is not a president, he is an appointed official. Under his presidency, the Presidency has ended up at an NGO. If it had worked, it would have reacted once.
Parliament should have spoken, but parliament has lost its legitimacy. Parliament’s duty is not only to raise cards, but it is the institution that monitors the government. Institutions were gradually undone, so much power was gathered in the hands of one man, which is why the prime minister’s resignation is demanded. Finding a solution under these conditions is difficult, because there is no one to lead the effort for dialogue. We are facing a wall; there are no winners here, so far there are only losers.
