Justice Minister Toni Gogu said that dissatisfaction with institutions should be expressed through dialogue, not violence. “Institutions are not attacked, but challenged with arguments and dialogue”, Gogu wrote on social media, stressing that institutions can be criticized and held accountable, but problems must be resolved through communication.
The minister also shared a message from Leopoldo, a member of the World Jurist Association and part of the World Law Foundation team, who has been in Tirana in recent days and has closely followed the protests.
Leopoldo said he understands the students’ demands for access to education and better employment opportunities, but stressed that respect for the rule of law must be mutual. “When you demand something from your government, you must also consider that it must be done in the right way”, he said.
According to him, public institutions, including the Ministry of Justice, belong to citizens, so dialogue should be the way to address dissatisfaction and demands for change.
