Criminal responsibility for minors in Albania begins before the age of 18. Justice Minister Toni Gogu, in an informative video published on social networks, reminded that Albanian legislation provides for criminal responsibility for minors involved in unlawful acts.
According to the minister’s explanation, criminal responsibility begins at the age of 14 for crimes, while for criminal offences it applies from the age of 16.
Gogu stressed that involvement in acts of violence may carry legal consequences even for persons under the age of 18, emphasising that being a minor does not automatically exclude criminal responsibility.
Through this informative message, the Ministry of Justice aims to raise awareness of the legal provisions and the consequences that violence may have, even when committed by minors.
