Prime Minister Edi Rama has come to the defense of the State Police, praising the conduct of officers during protests and objecting to the way police actions have been portrayed on television screens.
In a reaction on social media, Rama claims that the State Police, despite the violence directed against it, has not deviated from its mission and has continued to carry out its duty. He criticizes the media for what he describes as a one-sided portrayal of events, accusing some of them of targeting the blue uniforms.
The Prime Minister considers it unfair to portray the police as responsible for the violence during the protests, while questioning claims about the student character of the protest.

Here is the SHAMEFUL PICTURE of television screens, where “students” became the victims of brutal violence and the State Police became a cruel monster that massacred innocent young people hour after hour and minute after minute. Look at the ratio between injured police officers and injured protesters in other democratic countries, where the flames of ANTIFA terror are burning and destroying cities across Europe.
Everywhere there are far more injured protesters than injured police officers, as is entirely normal. In Tirana, however, the balance is reversed. Because in reality, the State Police has been at the height of its duty, never letting the violence it has suffered pull it off the tracks of its democratic mission. But the reality of Tirana has been replaced by another reality on the screens of this flame of violence and anti-state psychological terror.
From the morning news to the evening VIP shows, passing through live broadcasts filled with the pathos of an imaginary student revolution, a diverse crowd of 1,500 people at its peak was heroized, a crowd that had not a single thread in common with the troubles, problems, needs, pains and hopes of Albanian students or families, while the State Police was targeted with criminal shamelessness.
These screen figures, where most live off corruption, dizzying salaries, weekly rents, Instagram advertising and even podcasts fed with under-the-table money, an army of robbers of pensioners who declare little and earn a fortune, mixing day and night a soup of slander, hatred, vulgarity and banality, while field reporters and cameramen are treated like slaves for their daily bread, are even more guilty for the days of terror over the people of Albania than those who blindly throw the stones of violence.
*** I put “students” in quotation marks at the start of the words, because very soon you will see them face to face and with facts, full of masked heroes who terrorized the Albanian people with the phantom of 1997 and who have no connection to the University or student life.
TRUE STUDENTS ARE THOSE WHO WANT TO CHALLENGE POLITICS AND THE GOVERNMENT WITHOUT RAISING A HAND AGAINST PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY, BUT BY POINTING OUT WOUNDS THAT NEED HEALING THROUGH DIALOGUE AND JOINT ENGAGEMENT.
