The leader of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti, has reacted to the violent protest in Tirana, condemning the use of violence and calling on protesters and state institutions to avoid escalating the situation. Ahmeti stresses that clashes and the destruction of property cannot bring about a solution, while calling for citizens’ demands to be expressed with dignity and within democratic principles.
“No form of violence, from either side, can be an answer to the crisis. Clashes do not replace dialogue, nor does destruction bring about the change that is demanded,” Ahmeti said. He urged students and protesters not to allow tensions and clashes to overshadow their message, stressing that behind every damaged business stand the work, labor and sacrifice of people.
The BDI leader emphasized that state institutions also have a special responsibility for maintaining order and security, calling on the Police to act with professionalism, impartiality and full respect for citizens’ rights. According to Ahmeti, the situation must be overcome through dialogue and political responsibility, while the Albanian political class must set aside party interests and put the country’s interest first.
“The Albania that is burning is the Albania of everyone, and its loss is a loss for each of us,” said Ali Ahmeti, calling for restraint and reflection at this tense moment.
