The European Union’s Ambassador to Albania, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, presented Albania’s 2026 Progress Report to the National Council for European Integration and its two co-chairs, Taulant Balla and Jorida Tabaku.
The ambassador stressed the importance of political dialogue and public consultation in the country’s European integration process.
“The Council brings together the majority, the opposition and civil society at one table, and Albania’s path towards the EU needs precisely this: genuine political dialogue and real consultation with the public,” Moreira de Sousa said.
She underlined that political clashes slow down reforms and delay the benefits that EU membership will bring to Albanian citizens.
“This is a national project, which can move forward only if it is built together,” the ambassador stressed.
