A protester on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard delivered a direct message to the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, asking him to step away from politics and make way for a new generation. “I was 6 years old when he went to the first rally for democracy in 1991. I was there in 1997 when the technical government was formed, hoping we would unite again, and now here we are again”, the protester said.
She then addressed Berisha with a sharp appeal, asking him to withdraw from political life and enjoy his pension close to his family. According to her, his departure would be a concrete example of political responsibility. “I say to Sali Berisha: go collect your pension, enjoy your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Enjoy your retirement, enough!”, she declared.
The protester also extended her criticism to the prime minister, placing emphasis on resignation as an act that, in her view, should serve as an example for the political class. “Tell Edi Rama how to resign! Resign and that’s enough, you’ve come out to speak”, she said, before closing her message with another direct appeal to the opposition leader. “Set an example, retire and give yourself dignity”, the protester concluded.
