Singer Aurela Gaçe has released her new album of 10 songs, titled “Ky vend do të shpëtojë” (“This Country Will Be Saved”). Through this project, she expresses her love for her homeland, Vlora, and her concern for the future of the country. Appearing tonight on “Live me Luizin”, Gaçe said the album is another form of revolt, while stressing that she supports the right of citizens, especially young people, to seek a better future in Albania.
“This is another form of revolt. I chose to express through verses what I feel for this country. We cannot say that this country will not be made, this country will be made. A long time ago I wrote some verses on Facebook and titled them “Letter to My Vlora”. There were reactions and it pushed me to turn it into a song.
There is no patriotism without this: loving your own country. I felt the moment had come to give more to the area where I grew up, so as not to remain indebted to my Vlora, I made these 10 songs. Every time I return to Vlora, I remember my grandparents and childhood. I also remember the strolls along the Lungomare, when they used to tease us sometimes, oh Luiz (laughs). I always wonder why these people leave the country. I have left too, and my sister and brother, but love brought me back.
I advise my daughters not to stop demanding what they deserve and not to be afraid. We are sometimes afraid too. I have been present at the protest from the beginning, except that I have one thing: I don’t take photos. I protest against everything my eyes see. I have my feelings to express.
When you take one side, half will hate you; you won’t have a middle ground. I did not go out to protest to take a side. I hold the view that this country has the right to raise its voice. I want the rights of my children and of young people who see no future here. This is not something a ball can decide. I see a generation that feels there is no future in this country. Should this state build that future for them?”, Aurela said, among other things.
