The world’s football attention is focused on Camp Nou, where Barcelona and Real Madrid face each other in the first match of the new La Liga season. The Catalans enter this super clash in excellent form, with nine wins in their first nine matches, and aim to continue their positive run and widen the gap with their Madrid rivals.
Barcelona top the table and seek to use home advantage to take three points of special weight. On the other side, Real Madrid are in third place with 21 points, four fewer than Atletico Madrid and six points behind the leaders.
Both teams face important absences. For Barcelona, coach Hansi Flick will not have Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen available, all of them injured.
Real Madrid also have problems, as they will play without Raul Asencio, Rodrygo and Ferland Mendy, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is missing due to flu. Another important absence is that of Vinicius Junior, who is suspended after the red card he received against Villarreal.
