The eighth round of Serie A has delivered surprises and emotions, with Milan suffering their first league defeat of this season, while Inter secured three important points away at Venezia, in a match decided by two own goals.
Bologna overturn Milan, Mbangula shines with 3 goals
At the “San Siro” stadium, Milan suffered an unexpected 2-4 defeat to Bologna, despite closing the first half in the lead. The visitors were the first to take the lead, with Samuel Mbangula benefiting from a precise assist from Nadir Zortea to beat goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The Rossoneri responded immediately. In the 14th minute, Alphadjo Cissé equalised, taking advantage of a serious mistake by Bologna defender Theate. In the 27th minute, Milan turned the score around when Cissé deflected a powerful shot by Fikayo Tomori into the net.
However, the hosts’ advantage did not last until the end. In the 60th minute, a cross by Juan Miranda from a free kick ended in Milan’s net after a deflection by Davide Bartesaghi, who scored an own goal. Just two minutes later, Bologna took advantage of a quick counterattack to go ahead again. Samuel Mbangula scored his second personal goal after an assist from Juan Miranda.
As the match neared its end, Bologna’s striker sealed everything in the 86th minute, completing his hat-trick and giving his team a huge 2-4 win at “San Siro”. This is Milan’s first league defeat this season, while Bologna leave with three important points from a difficult away trip.
Inter beat Venezia, two own goals decide the match
Unlike Milan, Inter managed to take maximum points away at Venezia, winning 0-2. The first half ended goalless, despite the home side getting the ball into the net in the 29th minute. Venezia’s goal, however, was ruled out for offside.
The Nerazzurri found the opening goal in the 79th minute, but not through one of their own players. After a ball was sent into the area by Marcus Thuram, Matias Moreno deflected the ball into his own net, giving Inter the lead.
Just three minutes later, the team coached by Inter’s side benefited again from an own goal. After a corner kick by Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Carlos Augusto headed the ball, while Redouane Halhal deflected it into his own goal.
