Egnatia suffers its first defeat in this edition of the Conference League. The Albanian champions were beaten 2-0 away by Universitatea Craiova in the third-round league phase match.
The Romanian side laid the foundations for victory in the first half, finding the net twice within a span of just eight minutes. Alexandru Cicâldău broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, while Nicușor Bancu doubled the hosts’ lead in the 32nd minute.
In the second half, Egnatia tried to get back into the game and created several scoring chances, mainly through Fernando and Ledjo Beqjan, but failed to change the result. Furthermore, in the 83rd minute, the Rrogozhina side were reduced to ten men after Eneo Bitri received a second yellow card and was sent off.
As a result, Egnatia fails to take any points in the Romanian away fixture and suffers its first defeat in this competition. After two draws in the first two matches, the Albanian champions remain on two points in the league phase standings.
