Juventus secured an important win against Napoli, triumphing 2-0 in the tenth-round Serie A match. In the duel between Spalletti and Allegri, it was the Bianconeri who came out on top, thanks to two goals scored in the second half by Alajbegovic and Boga.
The first half was characterised by a not very high tempo, with both teams struggling to create clear chances on goal. The danger came mainly from set pieces. Napoli tried several headers from Lucca, while for Juventus it was McKennie who came closest to scoring.
However, the final minutes of the first half were also marked by tension and penalty claims. After a corner, Cabal hit the post, while Juventus players appealed for a penalty for a challenge on the former Verona footballer.
In the second half, Juventus appeared much more determined and took control of the game. After several minutes of pressure, the go-ahead goal came in the 70th minute. Zhegrova produced an excellent move, created a numerical advantage and passed to Alajbegovic, who unleashed a powerful diagonal shot from distance. The ball struck the post and ended up in the net, beating goalkeeper Meret.
The situation became even more difficult for Napoli just five minutes later. Marianucci was shown his second yellow card, leaving Allegri’s side with ten players on the pitch.
With the advantage on the scoreboard and in numbers, Juventus calmly managed the remaining minutes and, in the 87th minute, sealed the win. Boga scored a spectacular goal with his right foot, sending the ball into the net after a precise lofted pass.
This triumph gives Juventus three very valuable points in the race for a European place. The Bianconeri climb to 17 points, while Napoli remain in eighth place with 14 points, missing an important opportunity to get closer to the top of the table.
