Harry Kane is among the candidates for the Golden Boot, but the English striker admits that the wait to learn the winner’s name is causing tension even within his family. The Bayern Munich star does not hide his desire to find out the result as soon as possible.
The Golden Boot ceremony is approaching and the race for the prestigious award remains open. After a year of numerous top-level performances, several players are claiming the individual trophy, among them Harry Kane, the striker of Bayern Munich and the England national team.
In an interview reported by the British newspaper The Guardian, Kane said the wait is accompanied by strong emotions, especially within his family.
“My wife would prefer to know the result now, while my family is very nervous,” the English striker said.
Kane acknowledged that he understands the organizers’ decision not to reveal the winner in advance, so that the ceremony keeps its interest and all the stars have the opportunity to take part.
However, he did not hide his desire not to have to wait until the end of the evening to learn the result.
“I would like to know the winner now, just so I could follow the ceremony without having to wait all night. But that is their decision and I can’t control it,” Kane said.
