Vincent Kompany has been discharged from hospital after five days of treatment for meningitis. The news was confirmed by Max Eberl, sporting director of Bayern Munich, who expressed optimism about the Belgian coach’s recovery and his return to activity.
In statements reported by the German broadcaster ARD, Eberl described Kompany’s discharge from hospital as very important news for the Bavarian club.
“I think Kompany’s discharge from hospital is the greatest and best news for all of us. He has now been allowed to return home, where he will continue his recovery period,” Eberl said.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director made clear that the coach must focus on rest and medical treatment before thinking about returning to work.
“For him, recovery means rest and taking medication. I am completely convinced that very soon he will be back to full fitness and will be able to return to the field,” the German club’s director concluded.
Kompany is expected to continue his recovery at home, while his return to the Bayern Munich bench will depend on the progress of his health condition and medical recommendations.
