Lionel Messi has once again confirmed his special bond with Barcelona, stressing that his love for the Catalan club and the city will last forever. Meanwhile, president Joan Laporta is planning a tribute ceremony for the Argentine at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Lionel Messi has not forgotten Barcelona. The Argentine star, who currently plays for Inter Miami in the United States, has spoken nostalgically about his years at the Catalan giants, confirming that his connection with the club will always remain special.
In a statement relayed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner stressed the importance Barcelona has in his life.
“Barcelona means a lot to me. I feel a special love for the city and the club, and so it will always be,” Messi said.
The Argentine also recalled the many successes achieved in the blaugrana shirt, appreciating not only the trophies but also the way the team won them.
“At Barcelona we had the fortune to win everything. Not only for what we achieved, but also for the way we achieved these successes and how much joy we experienced playing, winning and creating important moments,” he stated.
Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021, joining Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent. Two years later, he transferred to Inter Miami, with whom he has a contract until 2028.
