Milan is in a delicate position on the eve of the much-anticipated derby against Inter. The recent defeat to Bologna has caused dissatisfaction in the Rossoneri camp, while the clash with the city rivals is seen as a match where the team cannot afford another misstep.
A possible defeat in the derby would significantly reduce Milan’s chances of competing for the title, further worsening the atmosphere in an environment where expectations for this season have been higher.
Coach Ruben Amorim is aware of the importance of this clash and has received positive news from the infirmary. According to reports from Italy, three important players, Gila, Rabiot and Moreira, have recovered and are expected to be in the starting lineup against Inter.
Milan is expected to take the field with the usual 4-2-3-1 formation, but one of Amorim’s main dilemmas concerns the position of Adrien Rabiot. The French midfielder could be deployed alongside Luka Modric in midfield or further forward, behind striker Gonçalo Ramos.
In the second case, his place in midfield could be taken by Musah, while Hutchinson would be one of the players sacrificed by the formation.
In defence, the only dilemma seems to be on the left flank, where Estupiñán and Bartesaghi are competing for a starting place. Meanwhile, Pavlovic, De Winter and Gila are expected to be part of the back line.
Up front, Pulisic, who has renewed his contract and is only awaiting official confirmation, looks certain to start. At the tip of the attack, Gonçalo Ramos is expected to play, although his performance against Bologna suggested the striker needed a rest.
