Real Madrid secured a convincing 4-1 win over Leipzig in the Champions League, but José Mourinho has immediately turned attention to Sunday’s clash against Barcelona. The Portuguese coach praised Bernardo Silva and Vinicius Junior, while expressing dissatisfaction with the goal conceded by Thibaut Courtois.
“Bernardo is a great player. He had been without a start for a long time, but he deserved this opportunity. He played a fantastic match. I only didn’t like the goal we conceded. Courtois didn’t deserve to end the match like that. He made two extraordinary saves, and his teammates ruined his evening,” the Portuguese said.
Mourinho also spoke about Vinicius Junior, defending him after his substitution.
“He played a good match tactically, helped in defence and closed down spaces. He could even have scored a marvellous goal. As a coach, I am satisfied with his performance,” he emphasised.
But attention is now already on El Clásico. Mourinho acknowledges that the clash with Barcelona is special and that the time for recovery is limited.
“For El Clásico there is no confidence scale from zero to ten. It is another league match, but saying it is like all the others would be a lie. We are losing 24 hours of rest, but we will be ready,” the Real Madrid coach concluded.
