The countdown has started for a comeback that promises to draw the attention of fans. Ronaldinho is expected to pull on football boots again for an official match in the colours of Ravenna, in Serie C, at an age when few footballers would consider such a challenge.
The former Barcelona and Milan star, known for his technique, flair and ability to make a difference with a single action, is back at the centre of attention. However, it remains to be seen what a footballer who has long been away from regular competition can offer on the pitch.
Marco Borriello, the former striker who shared dressing rooms with the Brazilian at Milan, has also spoken on the matter. In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, he praised Ronaldinho’s extraordinary qualities while also highlighting the difficulties he will face in a physical and intense league like Serie C.
“When he wanted to, he was unstoppable. For strikers like me, it was a great fortune to have him in the team. Even without moving much, he can still make the difference, but in Serie C they run like animals,” Borriello said.
Borriello’s words sum up the two sides of the Brazilian’s career. On one hand, Ronaldinho was a player who could create chances from impossible situations, disorient opposing defences and provide his teammates with passes that few players could imagine.
On the other hand, the former striker points out that technical talent is not always enough to meet the demands of modern football, where intensity, physical duels and off-the-ball movement are of great importance.
This is exactly where Ronaldinho’s challenge lies. His flair and class may remain intact, but the pace of the game and his physical condition will be decisive factors in determining his impact on the pitch.
Interest in a possible comeback by Ronaldinho is not limited to Ravenna alone. The Brazilian’s name continues to stir emotions among fans around the world, thanks to his golden years with Barcelona and Milan, where he captivated the public with dribbles, goals and spectacular plays.
