Albanians, one century of immigration. Scholars raise alarm and accuse Serbia
The massive immigration of Kosovo citizens gathered at the Islamic Study Faculty in Kosovo scholars and representatives of religious institutions from Kosovo and Macedonia.
The topic of this historic meeting was the immigration of Albanians from 1912 to 2015, the reasons and consequences of this phenomenon. Historians focused on different periods when Albanians have been evicted from their lands, such as that of the Nish Sanjak.
“There are 21 journals of Serbian soldiers which show what our people suffered in that genocide. Serbs didn’t even know the names of the villages they entered”, says historian Hakif Bajrami.
Historians also mention the massive eviction in the ‘60s, in Kosovo, after the Turkish-Yugoslav agreement. They also reminded the role of imams for stopping the phenomenon. As for the wave of immigration in 2015, historian Hakif Bajrami blames Serbia too.
The Dean of Islamic studies, Fahrush Rexhep, sayd that the abandoning of the birthplace is a short method for destroying the cultural origin of a nation.
Scholar Miliazim Krasniqi, says that the recent immigration is a consequence of the moral and cultural crisis, an instrument to impose the new discipline for the Albanian people.
Writer Kim Mehmeti says that the historic periods have changed and now the Albanians are facing the danger of having their lands abandoned.
The number of Kosovo citizens who requested asylum last year and this year in the EU is at around 173.000.
