Armenia coach invited 17 players from foreign clubs for Albania match
Armenia head coach Bernard Challandes has invited 17 players from foreign clubs for national duty ahead of this month’s Euro-2016 qualifier against Albania.
The Armenian national team will travel to the Balkan country for the match scheduled for March 29. Before that, the squad will hold training assemblies on March 23-27.
Among the invited players are veteran goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky from Dynamo Moscow, Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Spartak Moscow’s Yura Movsisyan and others.
Among the team’s leading players only Aras Ozbiliz from Spartak Moscow is missing. The Armenian resumed his training recently after a serious injury received last year.
The names of the players from the Armenian Premier League to be invited to the training assemblies are expected to be announced later this month.
In late February, Armenian Football Federation President Ruben Hayrapetyan said Challandes will resign if the team fails to beat Albania.
Armenia have only one point after three qualifiers played under the new Swiss coach last fall. The team is behind all Group I rivals that also include Denmark, Portugal and Serbia.
