The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, says he continues to consider himself capable of leading the opposition and bringing change to the country, despite having been part of the Albanian political scene for 36 years. Speaking on “TVKlan”, the Democratic Party leader also stressed that he does not see his age as an obstacle to continuing his political commitment, noting that he will step down at the moment he finds that the years are limiting him in carrying out his duties.
“From the very moment Sali Berisha finds that there is a minimal inability due to his years, there is no hesitation in his decision to say ‘goodbye’”, the Democratic Party leader stated. He emphasized that he is currently better prepared to lead the political force he heads, compared to the time when he began his career as a politician after the profession of cardiologist.
“Today, after so many years, at the head of the Democratic Party, I am at least 100 times more capable of leading it, in assessing the developments of situations, than when I was a cardiologist and then a novice politician in a few days or a few weeks”, Berisha said.
Commenting on his political battle, the Democrats’ leader described confronting what he calls a “narco-state” as the greatest challenge, portraying it as the most severe form of dictatorship. According to Berisha, the experience accumulated over the years remains an asset that must be put to use in this political battle.
