Head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, says he will step down from the party leadership at the moment he finds that his age makes it impossible for him to continue, stressing that until then he intends to put his many years of experience at the service of the political battle.
“From the moment Sali Berisha finds that he has a minimal (health) inability due to the years, there is no doubt in his decision to say ‘goodbye’”, he declared.
Thus, the Democratic leader will decide, in relation to his personal physical capacity, when he will ultimately leave politics.
Invited on “Tv Klan”, asked about the role of the opposition in this situation and whether it bears any responsibility, Berisha stressed that Prime Minister Edi Rama is not ready to leave power through a normal political process.
“If the prime minister decides not to hand over power, do whatever you want, he cannot be removed! There are two ways, like Ceaușescu or the boss in Belgrade. Now his time has run out! Haven’t you seen in Albania, young men and women who have taken to the protests”, said Berisha.
As for the latest internal result of the party and the support it enjoys, Berisha claimed that a considerable part of the membership does not agree to be involved in the political race, since, according to him, the electoral process does not offer equal conditions.
