A house was engulfed by fire in the village of Hoxhar i Vjetër in Fier, almost completely gutted. The fire is suspected to have been caused by a gas cylinder used for cooking. Fortunately, the 33-year-old man who was inside the house managed to escape without injury.
According to residents of the area, Redjan Llambro, who suffers from epilepsy, had a seizure at the moment he was lighting the gas cylinder to prepare food. During the episode, he is suspected to have knocked over the cylinder, causing the flames to spread rapidly through the house and its furniture.
The smoke coming from the house was first noticed by neighbors, who immediately intervened to get the 33-year-old out. Shortly after, firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to bring the flames under control and prevent the fire from spreading to the surrounding homes.
Redjan and his mother lived in the house; she was not there at the time of the incident. Besides considerable material damage, the family also lost its furniture and household appliances, and is left without basic living essentials.
Relatives and residents of the area have appealed for help and solidarity, as the mother and son live in difficult economic conditions. They are asking for the support of institutions and citizens to secure shelter and the necessary equipment to restart their lives after this incident.
