The Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania has decided to keep the base interest rate unchanged at 2.5%.
The decision was taken at today’s meeting, on the grounds that the current level of the base interest rate corresponds to the economic situation and recent developments in the country.
At the press conference, Governor of the Bank of Albania Gent Sejko said that the price increase observed during the last quarter was mainly influenced by imported products.
According to him, the rise in the prices of imported products has been one of the main factors affecting price trends in the domestic market.
