Owners of electric vehicles will pay a fixed annual tax of 15,000 lek from 2027, while the tax for electric motorcycles will be 1,000 lek.
The measure is foreseen in the draft law on changes to the annual vehicle tax scheme, with the aim of including electric vehicles in the tax base.
According to the draft law, the 15,000 lek tax will apply to electric passenger cars, vehicles of other categories defined in the draft law, and electric buses. Electric motorcycles, meanwhile, will pay 1,000 lek per year.
Unlike vehicles with fuel engines, for which the tax is calculated based on engine capacity, age and fuel type, a fixed annual obligation is foreseen for electric vehicles.
According to the draft law’s calculations, the measure is expected to bring around 240 million lek in additional annual revenue to the state budget.
