The European Union Ambassador, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, responded to the question of whether Albania will be an EU member state by 2029.
At a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, she said this goal is achievable, but stressed that reaching it requires challenging work, momentum and the implementation of reforms.
“Yesterday Albania received the roadmap, which contains nothing additional, but which takes into account Albania’s aim and the timeline it has set for itself. It is possible, but it is very challenging work, because the final stretch requires the highest pace that you must set for yourself.
I have no reason to doubt. Everything will depend on the pace, as well as on how the reforms are adopted and implemented. It is important that this be the goal of all Albanian citizens”, the ambassador said.
