Former DP MP Edmond Spaho considers the roundtable convened by President Bajram Begaj ahead of the 2027 local elections a test for political parties and protesters. Spaho said the protesters should organize politically and test their support at the polls.
“They should create a political formation or run independent candidates who will have the support of the student movement”, he said. According to Spaho, without a clear political structure, the dialogue requested by Prime Minister Edi Rama remains difficult.
“Political dialogue takes place with political representatives”, the former MP stressed. Spaho also commented on the violence during the protests of the past 15 days, calling on peaceful protesters to distance themselves from acts of destruction.
“The healthiest part of this movement must distance itself in order to attract the attention and goodwill of citizens”, he declared.
