Minister Hoxha meets EU ambassadors: Democratic freedoms and the rule of law at the core of Albania’s European path. Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha today held a meeting with the ambassadors of European Union member states in Albania to discuss recent developments in the country.
During the meeting, Minister Hoxha underlined the Government’s unwavering commitment to democratic freedoms, including the fundamental right to peaceful assembly. He stressed that violence, vandalism and attacks on public or private property cannot be accepted as legitimate means of political expression or of any other form of expression, a principle that applies in Albania as well as everywhere else in Europe.
The discussions also addressed the importance of maintaining institutional stability, respecting the rule of law, and guaranteeing the legality and proportionality of all actions by public authorities. Minister Hoxha reaffirmed the Government’s readiness for dialogue at any time, in any place, and with anyone who is not involved in acts of violence. He described dialogue as a democratic value and the best way to overcome differences, address concerns and move forward together.
Turning to the European integration process, the Minister stressed that membership in the European Union remains a national strategic objective. “Difficult moments should strengthen our determination, not divert us from reforms, democratic standards and the responsibilities that stem from our ambition to join the European Union,” he said. Minister Hoxha welcomed the open exchange with European partners and their continued engagement with Albania in pursuit of our shared goal of a future in the European Union.
