Analyst Mentor Nazarko has commented on the clash between Prime Minister Edi Rama and Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, as well as the latter’s positions regarding SPAK and political developments.
According to Nazarko, some of Veliaj’s actions and statements appear to be aimed at presenting himself as a political prisoner, as part of his battle with the justice system.
On the other hand, Veliaj has implied that his arrest may be perceived as an initiative of Prime Minister Rama.
“Many developments are fueling what is his personal objective. That is, he wants, in the context of his battle with SPAK, to present himself as a political prisoner. So he is an enemy of the prime minister. He has implied that even his arrest should appear to be an initiative of the prime minister. Plarent Ndreca said that the PS was once the party of protests. Mr. Veliaj distanced himself from violence in his second public appearance”, said on TCH.
