Students and teachers have gathered in front of the Ministry of Education, demanding changes and accountability from the government. During the protest, one of the students called on young people to join and give more strength to their cause, citing the student mobilization in Serbia as an example. The student accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of mismanagement and demanded his resignation, stressing that, in his view, after so many years in power, citizens have already seen how he governs.
“I want students to come together and give new energy to the protest. I am a student like all the others. If we unite, I think we will become a lot”, he said.
The student stated that the prime minister must take responsibility for the situation in the country, and accused him of trying to weaken the protesters’ response. “The prime minister has vandalized the entire Albanian state and must take responsibility for this. Rama is finding attempts to demoralize the students. The prime minister should leave, with at least two fingers’ worth of dignity”, the student told News24.
The young man emphasized that the demand for the prime minister’s departure is non-negotiable and ruled out the possibility of withdrawing this demand. “We categorically rule out the possibility of stopping the demand for resignation. We have nothing to discuss with Prime Minister Rama, because for 14 years we have seen what he knows how to do”.
