Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the violent protests, stressing that taking part in such clashes poses a danger not only to those who use violence, but also to those who are near them.
Rama says he is sorry for every person who suffers physical injuries, but in his view it is difficult to completely avoid incidents when protests are characterized by violence.
Referring to the injury of the young man from Elbasan, the prime minister says this case should serve as a warning for everyone, and especially for those who, in his words, incite clashes and use protesters for political purposes.
He also accuses some media outlets and political actors of using the young man’s injury to further fuel tensions and violence.
Rama states that he has been personally involved since last evening in ensuring his treatment at a specialized hospital in Italy, as well as his transport by medical aircraft.
In his reaction, the prime minister uses harsh language toward those he considers responsible for inciting violence, accusing them of harming the country and trying to profit politically from the incident.
Finally, Rama states that, in his view, these acts will not have the support of citizens and that Albanians will not forgive those responsible for the violence and destruction.
