The PS deputy, Eduart Shalsi, has stated that 46-year-old Ismet Habili, who was found killed in his car on Tuesday evening in Tirana, was not his driver. ”Regarding the report published in some media about the tragic incident in the Paris Commune area, I want to clarify that the information according to which the 46-year-old was my driver is false”, Shalsi said. What kind of journalism is this, when such an elementary fact is not verified even directly at the source?
I am a deputy and I have the opportunity to respond publicly to refute false information. But what happens to ordinary citizens, who do not have this opportunity? What is the value of freedom of speech if it is not accompanied by responsibility to inform accurately?
I call on the media to show responsibility, to verify information before publication, and to immediately correct this inaccuracy.
