European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos received a delegation of four representatives of the “Student List” movement, which won the latest parliamentary elections in Serbia, in Brussels.
The meeting, held at the commissioner’s invitation, marks the first contact of this level between representatives of the movement and European Union officials since the elections of October 25.
Kos announced the meeting during a speech delivered on Wednesday to the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, where she also spoke about recent political developments in Serbia.
According to the European commissioner, the new Serbian government has an important opportunity to open a new chapter in the country by strengthening democratic institutions, better guaranteeing fundamental rights and accelerating reforms linked to the path toward European Union membership.
