Gerry Cardinale appears determined to invest in turning Milan into an even more competitive side. The Rossoneri owner was present with the team during the derby against Inter, where he also celebrated the important victory. Now, his aim is for that support to take concrete form through investments in the January transfer window.
Milan’s leadership has identified two main priorities: signing a quality centre-back and a striker who can serve as an alternative to Gonçalo Ramos.
Before moves in the market, Cardinale is expected to officially appoint Marcus Kroesche as Head of Football. The former Eintracht Frankfurt director is expected to sign a multi-year contract in the first days of December. One of his tasks will be to select the new sporting director.
As for defence, the most favoured name is Gonçalo Inácio of Sporting. Milan also pursued him over the summer, but the Portuguese club refused to let its captain go. Matteo Gabbia’s long-term injury has made the need for reinforcements even more urgent.
In attack, the main target is Nicolò Tresoldi of Club Brugge, but his price tag is valued at 55-60 million euros. Meanwhile, Francesco Camarda could leave on loan to gain more minutes, as he has so far played only 96 minutes in five matches.
