Luka Modric continues to prove that age is just a number. The Croatian midfielder of Milan has set a new Serie A record, becoming the player over 40 with the most assists since the 2004-2005 season, when the Italian championship switched to the 20-team format.
According to data from the statistics platform Opta, Modric has already recorded four Serie A assists after turning 40, leaving former Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimović behind, who had recorded three assists after that age.
The new record came in Milan’s 2-0 win over Udinese, in the eighth-round match of the Italian championship. Modric contributed to the Rossoneri’s success with a decisive pass for Christian Pulisic, who unlocked the scoring in the sixth minute of the match.
It was another demonstration of the importance of the Croatian midfielder in Milan’s play, where experience, vision and the ability to dictate the tempo continue to make him a key element of the squad.
At 40, the Croatian continues to be decisive in one of Europe’s most demanding championships. The new assist record places him ahead of a great name like Ibrahimovic and confirms that Modric continues to leave his mark in this phase of his career.
