Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé are separated by just 41 points in the race for the 2026 Ballon d’Or. This was revealed by Vincent Garcia, editor-in-chief of France Football magazine, the organizer of the prestigious football ceremony.
In an interview with L’Équipe TV, Garcia stressed that the difference between the two footballers was extremely small, comparing the race with that of 2024, when Rodri triumphed over Vinícius Júnior.
“The difference was really minimal. The gap in points between Kane and Mbappé is smaller than that between Rodri and Vinícius in 2024,” Garcia stated.
Speaking about the distribution of votes, he explained that the concentration of votes on Spanish footballers had influenced the final result.
“Analyzing the votes, Rodri and Lamine Yamal have affected each other. Rodri received votes that could have gone to Yamal. There was a certain distribution of votes among the Spanish players,” said the head of France Football.
