Real Madrid lead Barcelona 0-1 at half-time in El Clasico, after a 45 minutes featuring dangerous chances, a forced substitution for the Catalans and a goal by the Madrid side in the 41st minute.
The match began with a fierce rivalry between the two teams, while Barcelona were forced to make their first change in the 30th minute. Xavi Espart, after a collision with Aurelien Tchouameni, could not continue and was replaced by Alejandro Balde.
Five minutes later, the Catalans had their first serious chance to take the lead. Anthony Gordon broke into the penalty area and struck hard towards the left side of the goal, but goalkeeper Andriy Lunin reacted spectacularly, saving Real Madrid.
Madrid’s response came in the 41st minute. After a quick move and a combination with Marc Cucurella, Yan Diomande sent the ball into the area. Gerard Martin failed to clear it properly, and after a deflection off Kylian Mbappe’s legs, the ball ended up in the net for a 0-1 score.
Barcelona had the ideal opportunity to equalise just three minutes later. Lamine Yamal found himself in a favourable position, but failed to take advantage of the chance to beat Lunin.
In the added time of the first half, Real Madrid could have doubled their lead. Yan Diomande wasted a golden opportunity, sending the ball wide of the frame, near the left post.
