The US Embassy in Tirana announced on Wednesday that the United States has invested more than $40 million to strengthen Albania’s cyber defenses against threats sponsored by foreign states.
The announcement follows the participation of US Ambassador Eric Wendt in the National Conference on Cybersecurity, where he praised Albania’s progress in strengthening digital resilience.
According to the ambassador, this progress is also linked to the training of the next generation of experts in the field, which is being supported through cooperation with the United States, including programs such as CyberNext.
“Together, we are working to ensure a more secure digital infrastructure for Albania, the United States and NATO,” Wendt said during the conference.
The American investment focuses precisely on threats sponsored by foreign states, which the embassy presents as the main reason for the support. The same announcement frames this cooperation as part of a broader commitment that also includes NATO.
In addition to protecting digital infrastructure, US support also includes building human capacity, with the training of local specialists who will work on cybersecurity in the future.
The embassy’s announcement emphasizes that cooperation between the two countries aims for greater digital resilience for Albania, through joint programs and the preparation of new experts.
