Greece continue to support Albania in EU integration process
Andreas Loverdos made the remarks during a high level meeting held with the Albanian minister of Education, Lindita Nikolla.
According to Albanian Telegraphic Agency, in the joint press conference was highlighted the interlocutors discussed various different and common issues of education.
Nikolla said that “for the first time the schools of the Greek minority in Albania are equipped with school books in Greek language before the beginning of the new school year.”
“Albania has a very positive record track in the international arena as one of the committed stated regarding the fulfillment of international standards and the respecting of the minorities’ rights, as the last one is highlighted as well in the international reports,” stated Nikolla.
“Albanian community in Greece and the Greek minority in Albania are important cooperation bridges between the tow countries, in particular regarding cooperation in fields of Education and Sports that consolidate these bridges,” she furthered.
Loverdos said that there exists a very good political framework between Albania and Greece and after extending an invitation to minister Nikolla to visit Athens in January 2015, he said that the opportunity to discuss important matters and the adoption of the Albanian proposed text books is highly likely.
Both ministers stated that consensus will be the epicenter of attention in the bilateral relations, on the other hand today as well was reactivated the common commission for the study of textbooks in the field of history, geography, culture and economy, based on the UNESCO and Council of Europe principals.
