Lawyer Plarent Ndreca, representing Erion Veliaj, has announced that the Mayor of Tirana has been transferred to the hospital facilities of the Fier prison due to a fractured leg, which still requires medical treatment and recovery.
In a statement following a meeting with Veliaj, Ndreca said that for nearly two weeks they have formally requested an examination to assess the progress of the fracture’s healing. However, to date this examination has not been carried out, despite the requests and instructions of the doctor monitoring his recovery.
The lawyer also revealed that Veliaj has handed over several loose pages from his personal diary, in which he noted the answers he communicated to Justice Minister Toni Gogu regarding the demands made of him. According to Ndreca, these responses will be made public.
A few days ago, Veliaj made public that Gogu had visited him in his cell to convey, according to him, several messages from Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the handover of power and other demands.

“I have just come out of the meeting with Erion.
Erion has been transferred to the hospital facilities of the Fier prison because of his broken leg, which still requires recovery and medical treatment. Meanwhile, it has been almost two weeks since we formally requested that the necessary examination be carried out to assess the progress of the fracture’s consolidation. To date, this examination has not been carried out, despite the requests and instructions of the doctor monitoring his recovery.”
