Former prosecutor Eugen Beci comments on Justice Minister Toni Gogu’s visit to the Fier prison to meet Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Beci said an in-depth criminal investigation should be launched into the case. He added that if Veliaj’s statements are true, someone must be held criminally responsible.
Eugen Beçi said: A criminal investigation must be carried out into Toni Gogu’s visit to the Fier prison to meet Veliaj.
The Minister of Justice is the administrator of prisoners, while the person in pretrial detention is there because of the Prosecution. This must be resolved by the investigation: to understand why the minister went, Mayor Veliaj will be asked why Gogu was at that prison.
If such a threatening conversation took place as Veliaj describes, someone must be held responsible
