The 2027 budget provides 3.9 billion lekë for the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Speaking to the Foreign Affairs Committee, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha said that closing the chapters of European Union integration will be a priority.
”We are working with the mindset of a future EU member. The objective is to fulfil the remaining obligations and close the negotiating chapters during 2027, strengthen inter-institutional coordination and secure the support of member states, with the aim of full membership within this decade”, said Ferit Hoxha. Another priority, according to Hoxha, is the digitalisation of consular services, including the use of artificial intelligence.
”We aim to modernise services for citizens abroad, improve online access and develop a virtual assistant for consular information and guidance, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week”, the foreign minister added. Hoxha also addressed Kosovo, stressing that every mechanism will be used to secure its recognition.
