Hamit Ibro, 69, is the second victim of the powerful explosion in a five-storey building in the city of Elbasan. The lifeless body of the 69-year-old was found under the rubble of the building.
Meanwhile, experts from the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office have begun work to document the circumstances of the incident, while specialists from the Institute of Construction are expected to arrive next to carry out another assessment of the building’s condition.
The Municipality of Elbasan has stated that, in cooperation with other responsible institutions, it will take all necessary measures to shelter residents affected by the incident, as well as for further interventions that may be required depending on the assessment of the situation.
The serious incident occurred on Wednesday (4 November), when at around 2:00 p.m., the apartment of the 69-year-old was engulfed by flames – it is preliminarily suspected to have been caused by a gas cylinder.
The flames spread to other parts of the floors, causing children, adults and the elderly to be evacuated immediately, except for an 82-year-old woman who was unable to leave the building, which was consumed by the fire.
