Democrats in America have managed to win several key races, including in the House of Representatives, as well as in states that have traditionally voted Republican. The result has sparked strong reactions in both political camps, while Republicans face questions about the reasons for their defeat. Journalist and analyst Keida Kostreci, who lives in America, looked at the reactions of Democrats, who consider the result an important political signal, as well as at the difficulties Republicans face in unifying their position after the defeat.
“The reactions from Democrats have been enthusiastic, while the Republican Party is trying to convey a coherent message after this defeat. Within Republican ranks there have also been different positions. It was expected that Democrats would win the House of Representatives, while the Senate had several very close races. But the fact that Democrats also managed to win in states traditionally Republican is seen as a blue wave and a clear expression of dissatisfaction and rejection of the policies and positions of President Donald Trump,” Kostreci said on ”Report TV”.
According to the analyst, the reaction of Vice President JD Vance after the Republicans’ defeat in the elections is a development that deserves attention. Vance blamed the war in Iran for the negative result, a position that, according to Kostreci, may signal his distancing from President Donald Trump and his ambitions for the next presidential race.
“Something else to note at the last moment, more precisely during the last hour, was the lengthy reaction of Vice President JD Vance on social networks, in which he blamed the war in Iran for the defeat in these elections. We recall that Mr. Vance was against the war in Iran from the beginning, although he later became President Donald Trump’s envoy.
Such a reaction, so soon after the elections, is seen as a distancing of Vance himself from Trump and perhaps also as preparation for the next presidential campaign, two years from now. He is seen as one of the main candidates of the Republican Party.
These are moves that signal something, because it was precisely Vance who emphasized an issue on which he had a different position from President Donald Trump. So, his position has been the opposite of Trump’s. It is still early, but Democrats have also already begun to talk and think about the presidential elections, because that is the big prize in the race for power.”
