A cargo of marijuana worth 1 million euros from Thailand, disguised as clothing, was seized at Athens International Airport at the end of summer, authorities said on Wednesday.
A police statement said 207 kilograms of the drug were found in cardboard boxes in temporary storage at Eleftherios Venizelos airport in August. It was not clear why the seizure was announced more than two months later.
The statement said the marijuana had been loaded onto a flight from Thailand and had a potential street value of 1 million euros, but gave no indication of who had organized the shipment or who it was intended for.
