A bomb threat against a cruise ship bound for Israel triggered a security operation at the port of the Greek island of Syros.
The “Crown Iris”, flying the Panamanian flag, was due to sail to Haifa with 940 passengers and 597 crew members on board when the threat was received.
Coast Guard personnel, assisted by a dog trained to detect explosives and a diver, searched the ship, while a special Coast Guard unit was also deployed to the scene.
Preliminary checks found no bomb. Coast Guard specialists will carry out further inspections before the ship resumes its voyage.
Today, Europe has faced 7 bomb threats on flights, causing disruptions and delays at airports, although no explosive material was found.
